As parents of three kiddos Brad and I know how hard it can be to get away for a date night. So, like many parents, we have had to get creative and find a way to turn our much-needed date nights into fun family nights. We have a put together a list of some of our favorite kid-friendly restaurants in Napa that have made dining out with kids enjoyable for all.
Napa Yard at the Oxbow Commons
Why we love it: Great outdoor space for the kids to burn some energy while you enjoy some bites and a refreshing beverage.
Kid Approved Eats: soft pretzels and fries.
Parenting Tip: Check their calendar for their live music schedule on the weekends and get there on the earlier side to score a seat around one of the fire pits.
Farm Restaurant and Bar
Why we love it: Beautiful property and incredible food for all. They have an amazing, enclosed grass area with lawn games. The kids can play and have a blast while you sit and enjoy a glass of bubbles and listen to live music Sunday-Thursday evenings.
Kid Approved Eats: The pizza is always a hit…when your kids aren’t looking definitely sneak a piece of the crust…so good!!
Parenting Tip: Order the kids meals as soon as you sit down. This way they can devour their meal and then head off to play the fun lawn games, leaving the grown-ups a little time to chat and relax while listening to the laughter in the background.
The Lincoln at Ace and Vine
Why we love it: Located along the Napa river, the outdoor patio with fire pits and lounge seating is the perfect place to have a glass of wine or craft cocktail while the kids play one of the many lawn games. From Ping Pong to Connect 4, they are sure to be entertained.
Kid Approved Eats: Chicken Tenders and Tater Tots are the top picks in our crew.
Parenting Tip: Call ahead to try to reserve a fire pit if you can so that you are sure to be seated where you can watch your kids play all of the
Hop Creek Pub
Why we love it: This is a go to for our family, especially when there are big games on the big screen! If you want to feel a sense of community, Hop Creek is the place for that. The staff is so friendly and accommodating and they always have fun kids menus that will keep them entertained while you try to stay up to date on the baseball score.
Kid Approved Eats: Chicken Tenders and the kids burger with fries or fruit are always crowd pleasers.
Parenting Tip: If there is a wait, ask for a kids menu to keep them entertained and let them color away.
NapaSport Steakhouse and Sports Lounge
Why we love it: We ventured into NapaSport months ago for the first time after going to a family movie and we were so pleasantly surprised. The staff is so wonderful and always great with the kids. They have a menu with a variety of options, sure to please any palette. Plus, if you have sports fans in your family, they will love watching the games on the big screens.
Kid Approved Eats: Our son loves the nachos and our girls always choose the grilled cheese.
Parenting Tip: Bring a coloring book with some crayons for the kiddos to help keep them entertained if they are not into watching sports. And check out the basketball court floor in the main bar area…this is sure to impress the basketball fans in your family.
Napa Palisades Saloon
Why we love it: This is the perfect place if you want to watch a big game or are looking for a casual feel with delicious food.
Kid Approved Eats: The grilled cheese is always a hit!!
Parenting Tip: They have a great happy hour from 3-6PM Monday-Friday and live music on Tuesday nights (always a great form of entertainment for the kiddos).
While family outings feel much different than a classic "date night", with a little bit of planning, creativity and a great family friendly restaurant, you can enjoy a fun Napa dining experience with the kids in tow.
